Wool Sleeping Bag
We outfitted our signature wool comforter with the convenience and durability inspired by classic sleeping bags. Cozy up under the stars with this all-natural sleeping bag worthy of nature's pristine beauty.
ALL NATURAL SLEEPING BAG
Imagine camping in a pristine wilderness and cuddling up with a sleeping bag that is NOT made out of synthetic material. It is a whole new experience that you will love.
Like our classic wool comforters, we choose only the best materials, but with an eye for outdoor durability.
Our sleeping bags are made of an organic cotton twill fabric outer shell, an organic cotton sateen fabric lining and filled with a generous amount of breathable Premium Eco-Wool™ batting. A quality YKK snag-resistant zipper conveniently secures the side and bottom of the sleeping bag. Two of the same sized bags can be zipped together to make a double bag perfect for snuggling (pictured).
We offer three different sizes so you can outfit your whole family: Regular, Tall, and Kid's.
Your sleeping bag is paired with a reusable organic cotton twill bag with a woven wool tie (pictured). Roll up your bag and head off to the next camp site or securely store it until the next camping season.
What About Warmth?
We rate this wool sleeping bag for summer use (+32°F). Wool is an excellent insulator and wicks moisture away from your body creating a dreamy environment for sleeping under the stars. For your reference, the wool weight in our sleeping bags is roughly twice as dense as our Extra Warm Wool Comforters.
Whether you are a warm or cold sleeper, we recommend using a sleeping pad, air mattress, or our Happy Lamb Fleece Travel Mat between you and the ground and sleeping snugly inside a tent, cabin, or adventure mobile. If you're experiencing a heat wave, simply unzip the bag.
Tried our wool sleeping bag in your neck of the woods? Please share your experience! Our large community extends our testing and explores the technical limits of our Wool Sleeping Bag.
Our wool sleeping bag pairs perfectly with the rest of our Travel product line.
Our compact and comfortable Travel Pillow was designed for adventure. If you want more protection in a rainy or humid camping experience, our Moisture Barrier is a perfect product to place between your wool sleeping bag and your sleeping pad. And for the ultimate outdoor comfort, replace your sleeping pad with a luxurious Happy Lamb Fleece Travel Mat or line the inside of your sleeping bag!

"Our family loved using non-toxic sleeping bags on a recent camping trip. It dipped a bit below 32 degrees, but the ability to zip two of the same size bags together provided enough warmth at 30 degrees. We love the width when two are zipped together. Each then comfortably sleeps two people. With the addition of HLO sleeping bags, our family can enjoy breathing in fresh air even while sleeping. I believe that's the point of camping and breathing in fresh air [without] toxic products next to our skin." - Anne Phoenix, AZ ordered 2 Tall and 2 Regular sleeping bags
Natural wool is a timeless option for bedding. It’s actually been used for centuries. Our grandmothers knew the many benefits that wool provides, now you do too.
Why Is Wool Bedding So Great?
Wool is the most breathable filling material available, making it both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.
Wool is a natural material; something grown, not made in a lab. Your body knows the difference. Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.
Dust Mite Resistant
Wool is a great choice if dust mites bug you or if you’re allergic. Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.
Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Amazingly, wool resists bacteria. It’s actually both antimicrobial and antibacterial.
Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.
A Renewable Resource, From Sheep
Unlike bedding that uses plucked down feathers, a sheep grows a coat of wool annually and is not harmed during shearing (it’s like getting a haircut).
Supports Small Farms And Farmers
Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living.
Sustainable And Lasting
With proper care, your woollen bedding can last for decades.
It Stays In Place In Your Bedding
Wool batting, being one continuous piece, stays in place in our products and is hand-tufted to further secure it. This is unlike down bedding which shifts over time and creates bare spots in a comforter.
Travel Product Care
Unmake Your Bed
One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding
Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.Protection Is Key: Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.
- Place a comforter inside a duvet cover
- Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case
- For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet
Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?
No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?
Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:
- Gently spot clean the affected area.
- Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions.
- You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op.
- If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.
Can I take it to a dry cleaner?
We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.
Certifications & Testing
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .
