Organic Cotton Fabric
Our USA sheets, duvet covers and towels are made out of organic cotton sourced and grown from our local Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative. The fibers are then shipped just over the border to Mexico where they are spun and woven.
Our partner has over 20 years of experience, has been an industry leader and is committed to fair trade standards. They are passionate about protecting the environment, both in the cotton field and in the production plant. They maintain a small carbon footprint in the industry by foregoing petrochemicals and by minimizing shipping tonnage and distance.
The Texas Organic Cotton Marketing Cooperative (TOCMC) has approx. 30 producer members who plant 10-18,000 acres of cotton each year in a region of South Plains in Texas known as the “world's largest cotton patch”.
Since many of these farms have limited to no irrigation, yields are very rainfall dependent and vary significantly from year to year. That is why US organic cotton stock can vary year to year and sometimes an item will go on back order.
TOCMC and its members are certified organic under the USDA-NOP.

Your Baby and Wool
Of course you want the softest, safest, cleanest, most natural materials right next to your baby. That's what we want for our children too.
What if my baby is allergic?
Many times babies and adults are actually allergic to the chemicals and fire retardants in bedding, rather than the materials themselves.
We do not use any chemicals in the processing of our wool. There is no carbonization (wool dipped in a chemical bath) whatsoever.
Our sheared wool is washed with a biodegradable soap and rinsed several times in scalding hot water before going to the mill to be carded. It's actually the cleanest wool available on the market. Seriously - and we've seen it all.
Isn't wool scratchy?
Some wools are, but not all of them. Two factors contribute to itchy wool:1. the grade of wool (coarse to fine), and
2. Carbonization chemical processing.
1. Our wool is a snuggle soft medium-fine grade wool. It's inherent loft makes it an ideal wool blend for bedding.
So to address both factors:
2. Our wool is never carbonized. EVER.
Order a Sensitivity Kit.
The best way to know is to try it yourself. Our kits come with all the materials we use wrapped in plastic, labeled and with instructions for how to test your self for an allergic reaction.
And do take a look at our Customer Reviews from happy parents talking about the softness of our products.
SPECIFICALLY BABY CARE:
To protect all mattresses & toppers we recommend using a Puddle Pad. This thick felted layer of barrier wool lays flat on top and is secured in place by the fitted sheet. Using puddle pads is an excellent natural way to protect against everyday accidents and spills.
We recommend that you do not wash the Happy Lamb Fleece for the first 6 months or so until all of the vertical wool layers have a chance to become uniform and slightly felt from the weight and heat of your child’s body. After that uniformity is reached (you will know) it will be safe to wash using our specific washing instructions provided with your product.
FOR ALL OUR PRODUCTS:
Unmake Your Bed
One of the best things you can do is unmake your bed in the morning for a few hours, allowing the moisture you gave off during the night to evaporate from the wool bedding.
Sunning Your Bedding
Placing your wool bedding in the sun a few times per year is an excellent way to refresh and cleanse your bedding using the benefits of the sun. Sunning will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protection Is Key: Protect your wool bedding by placing it inside an appropriate cotton cover that can be washed regularly and act as a barrier for your bedding during everyday use.
- Place a comforter inside a duvet cover
- Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case
- For mattress toppers, use a moisture barrier and then a fitted sheet
Do I need to wash my bedding before I use it?
No, your wool bedding is ready to use. There’s no need to wash it unless it’s your preference. There are no chemicals located in our production facility, no animals on-site, no finishes used on the fabric and we maintain a Scent Free facility.
Can my bedding be washed & how?
Most of our wool bedding can be washed using our special washing instructions provided with your purchase. If you need a copy of the washing instructions please Contact Us and we’ll email it to you as soon as possible.
In case of emergency:
- Gently spot clean the affected area.
- Set aside to later wash the entire product once you have received the washing instructions.
- You can also treat the problem area with live cultured enzymes which eliminate odors. (i.e. Biokleen makes a product called Bac Out.) These enzyme products can be found at your local health food store/ co-op.
- If you need another copy of the washing instructions, please contact us.
Can I take it to a dry cleaner?
We do not recommend dry cleaning unless it is taken to a certified "green" dry cleaner. Regular dry cleaners use chemicals to clean, defeating the purpose of having a natural bedding product.
Certifications & Testing
Green America - Gold Certified Business since 2007
Green America is a national, non-profit founded in 1982. (They went by the name "Co-op America" until 2009). America's Green Business Certification ensures companies operate according to a “values-based” social enterprise according to principles of social justice and environmental sustainability. In addition, certified businesses must be environmentally responsible in the way they run their operations and facilities, and in how they source raw materials, manufacture products, and market them. The Gold certification is completed by the Green America Standards Committee through an independent review.
Holy Lamb Organics holds the Gold Certification
The IOAS is a non-profit certification organization dedicated to the integrity of eco label claims in the field of organic and sustainable agriculture, environmental management, social justice and fair trade.
They work internationally to assess the competence of organizations providing certification to "sustainability" standards, meaning producers can work in a fair environment and consumers can trust the products bearing these labels and the company's contribution to a more sustainable and fairer world.
IAOS's role is as an independent technical expert. It verifies correct application of the standard and the requirements for certification.
All COTTON used at Holy Lamb Organics is IOAS certified.
Eco Wool is produced to the highest standards on local American farms; some of these standards are beyond those specified for organic materials. Eco Wool is not certified organic. At this time very little organic wool is available on the market; almost no organic wool is grown in the United States.
We have access to organic wool from New Zealand that is pure and clean, though due to it being only one type of wool, it doesn’t offer the kind of resilience or bounce that our Premium Eco Wool™ does. Our Eco Wool is a blend of about 7 different types of wool varying from fine to coarse in order to create the most ideal wool fiber for use in bedding.
Our WOOL is Premium Eco-Wool™ .

Raw materials holding FSC certification:
UC Davis Toxicology Lab Tested
All of the wool batting as well as moisture barrier fabric and wool blanket fabric that we use in manufacturing is tested for heavy metals through fiber sample analysis.
The official report indicates: "No toxic compounds were detected....Growers and ranchers raise sheep relative to organic standards (do not use herbicides, pesticides or growth hormones)."
Though not required by law, our mill has these materials tested anyways to provide you with the assurance as to the quality of our raw materials.
Element Materials Technology Tested
All materials at Holy Lamb Organics that have a "next to skin" use are run through a voluntary Phthalates test (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act CPSIA of 2008). This test is required by law and provides an extra assurance as to the quality of our natural materials.
All of our toppers and mattresses are required to meet the cigarette burn test 1633. Our verification is printed on all of our sewn-in product labels: "This Product Complies with the Federal Flammability Standard 16 CFR part 1632".
"I am absolutely happy with my purchase! I bought my son (10 months) the organic mattress pad for his crib, and saw a change in his restfulness that very night...I LOVE how it feels- silky soft on the outside and yet firm enough on the inside to support him. I love how it smells- natural, breathable, healthy."
"I wanted healthy bedding for our baby and after finding Holy Lamb Organics web site and reading what they offer I thought I would get that from them. I appreciate that you were willing to make a custom bassinet mattress for me. It's one of the best purchases I have made. Our baby seems happy with it too and sleeps very well on it. Now I want one for our bed!"
Port Charlotte, FL
“I purchased off your clearance list, the organic changing table pad and a set of the organic fleece covers. Both were listed as seconds, but I was unable to see any flaws. They are beautiful and I am extremely happy.”
“Keep on making what you love and loving what you make. My baby will be on your products all night and every time she gets her diaper changed, I'm glad I finally found something I am comfortable with.”
Bella Vista, AR
"Everything about the buying experience was feel-good, from supporting a small, local company, to purchasing a product that is so healthy for my daughter, to receiving such a wonderful item. Plus, the way you package your products is sweet. I love the lamb cut out! The crib topper has transformed her bed. Everything has exceeded my expectations. I am now setting aside money to save up for a topper for my son's twin bed :)"
San Jose, CA
“The mattress topper on the futon, along with the wool pillow, make for a super snuggly nap!”
“We purchased a quilted mattress topper for our daughter's crib...We liked that it was all-natural wool, harvested in an organic way, and it seemed like a small, friendly company committed to great products and service. I'm a huge fan and want to purchase everything you offer! Once my daughter's crib is outfitted in all your offerings, it's on to mommy and daddy's room!”
“I am very happy with my purchase of my Happy Lamb Fleece mattress topper. When it arrived it smelled so fresh and clean and felt amazingly soft. My baby sleeps so soundly and much better with this soft addition to her mattress. It gives me peace of mind to know that she is sleeping on something so pure and free of chemicals.”
“Very excited to have found a company that makes quality products that are organic. After doing the research online I was a little worried about buying without being able to touch the products but I am glad I did. I bought a mattress cover for my 3 year old daughter, a mattress cover for a crib and a fleece cover for a bassinet. My daughter even tells us she likes her bed better it's more comfortable. Customer service is great and its great to be able to talk to someone on the phone to get your questions answered.”
Kansas City, MO
“I bought the crib mattress, crib and bassinet puddle pads, wool pillow, and pillow protector. I am very happy with everything. The crib mattress is the nicest mattress in our house! I also prefer the natural wool puddle pads compared to the noisy and toxic plastic covers available at local stores.”
Comforter & Blankets
“Initially, I bought a Wool Comforter “Perfect Comfort” for my son's bed. I was so happy with it that I bought another one for my bed. It is so soft and comfortable! It is great to have an organic, eco-friendly resource that provides all I need to ensure my family has a healthy sleeping environment. Thank you!”
Lythia Springs, GA
“I love the baby comforter and duvet I purchased. I am actually using for my almost 4 year old in her toddler bed. I was looking for a warm comforter, but it was hard to find anything bigger than a crib blanket, but smaller than a twin. This comforter was the perfect size and warm. I love it and so does my daughter! I love that the products are organic. I am also impressed that they are hand made, custom to order. They are a quality product that is healthy for my family and the environment.”
“I ordered the wool mattress topper and also a comforter for my daughters bed. So far I am happy with the purchase.”
Sheets & Duvet Covers
“We are expecting our very first grandchild in April. I take a lot of comfort in knowing that we are surrounding him with organic linens. That they are made in the United States with such high quality is an extra bonus."

“My son has a lot of allergies, and is pillow doesn't bother him at all. Great success!”
