Learn the why and how of freshening and cleaning your natural and organic wool bedding naturally and easily.
Unmake your bed
Who would have thought that unmaking your bed is actually the best thing for it? It’s true. All you need to do is pull the covers waaaay back, giving your comforter and topper or mattress space to breathe. Moisture wicked away from your body during the night collects in the wool fibers. It's what makes wool such an efficient temperature regulator. Unmaking your bed and letting it breathe each morning allows the moisture to dissipate.
Let the sun shine
Setting your wool bedding out in the sun a few times a year is a great way to refresh and cleanse your bedding naturally. Sunning for a few hours, flipping once to get all sides, will naturally deodorize, bleach, disinfect, and revitalize your bedding.
Protecting your bedding from everyday wear and tear will extend its life and keep it fresh and clean. A few examples:
- Place your wool comforter inside a duvet cover
- Put your pillow inside a zippered pillow cover and then into a pillow case
- For mattress toppers, add a moisture barrier topped with a thin absorbent cotton blanket under your fitted sheet
